Position

Research Analyst – Myanmar

Supervisor Country Manager (Myanmar)
General Description As a Research Analyst, you will be a part of diverse team of individuals with expertise in engineering, financial and operational analysis, geographic analysis, and applied economics. Your team will work with leading Fortune 500 and 1000 companies on engagements that help them build and expand their businesses in Asian markets, namely in Myanmar. Through your work in our consulting, M&A, and economic development practices you will advise senior management and C-level executives on strategic, financial, and operational decisions.

Research Analysts will generally undertake secondary and primary research, then organize and analyze their findings under the direction of an engagement team leader or director. They will ensure that the strategic analysis and tactical commercial advice being provided is accurate, insightful and exceeds the client’s expectations.

Roles & Responsibilities
  1. Undertake and deliver research in support of consulting engagements
    • a. Undertake secondary and primary research.
    • b. Schedule primary research appointments, arrange transportation, and conduct interviews.
    • c. Organize and undertake preliminary analysis of data and information collected.
    • d. Prepare consulting engagement deliverables.
    • e. Interact with clients to develop a thorough understanding of their business, philosophy, corporate and project objectives.
    • f. Participate in client meetings with engagement Team Leaders and Directors.
    • g. Coordinate with Director and/or Consulting Manager to manage the client relationship to ensure engagement process and deliverables are prepared on schedule and exceed client’s expectations.
  2. Support Directors and Consulting Managers to develop new consulting business either with existing or new clients.
    • a. Understand Company’s capabilities for delivering analysis and advice.
    • b. Conduct research to support the writing of white papers, presentations, editorials, and other marketing materials.
    • c. Attend conferences and seminars.
    • d. Prepare required pre-sales research before initial sales meetings or proposals.
    • e. Attend sales meetings with Directors and/or Consulting Managers, take notes, and prepare meeting minutes.
    • f. Review proposals for errors and provide feedback.
    • g. Identify potential client opportunities, if possible.
  3. Take initiative to continuously develop his/her analytical, managerial, and administrative skills.
    • a. Demonstrate understanding of the Company’s consulting practice and the services that can be provided to potential clients.
    • b. Identify analytical, managerial and administrative skills that need improvement and appropriate education and training courses that can be taken to improve skills and effectiveness.
  4. Deliver other tasks as required of Directors, Consulting Managers and Consultants.
    • a. Complete necessary administrative tasks on-schedule.
    • b. Attend to client administrative needs during engagement, client trips and presentations.
    • c. Produce reports and review for errors.
    • d. Ensure that project research materials are organized and filed appropriately during and at the completion of each engagement.
Required Skills and Competencies
  • Excellent written and oral professional business communication skills in English and Burmese.
  • Takes the initiative to inform Directors and Consulting Managers about the status of research and analysis being undertaken for consulting engagements and administrative issues on a regular basis and particularly when problems are identified.
Qualifications and Experience
  • B.A/B.S. university degree in any discipline; an honors degree is a distinct advantage
  • Academic or professional experience undertaking market or financial analysis preferably at a professional services firm (consulting, market research, banking/finance) or within industry (FMCG, mining, logistics, oil and gas, manufacturing, etc.)
  • Excellent at critically assessing problems through quantitative and qualitative analysis.
  • Able to identify creative solutions to find data and research problems.
  • Proactive, responsible and able to work under pressure, with strong proven research skills.
  • Demands that all deliverables are accurate and within set formats.
  • Able to use all MS software products at an advanced level.
  • At least 1-2 years of business consulting or other relevant experience.
  • Willing to travel domestically and internationally.
  • Current residence in Myanmar.

Position

Economic Development Manager – China

Overall Purpose As an Economic Development Manager, you will help build the growing economic development practice by assisting regional development agencies to promote trade from and to attract investment to their region. To achieve this goal, you will develop a strategy and execution plan for successfully targeting and identifying Chinese companies that could serve as distribution channels, customers, and investors for companies from our clients’ regions.
In 2007, Tractus started its China based trade promotion and practice for outbound investment and since then it has grown it to take on clients including North American and European regions. Clients regularly include state, provincial, and local governments searching for China trade opportunities and Chinese investors. Tractus plans to grow this practice over the course of the next few years and is looking for an individual that can lead this growth in China. The ideal candidate will work under the direction of the company Directors and the Business Development team to strategize, plan, and execute on new ways to grow the individual practice.
Roles & Responsibilities
  • Oversee and lead project teams on trade promotion and investment attraction engagements on-schedule and within the company’s profitability targets.
  • Develop strategies for trade promotion and investment attraction based on clients’ requirements and work with targeted overseas regions to execute these strategies effectively.
  • Lead and develop staff to ensure their effectiveness in delivering appropriate and accurate advice to clients as part of a cohesive team.
  • Plan, coordinate and implement trade and investment missions for the Company’s Economic Development clients.
  • Work with the Business Development team to increase the number of economic development projects in China.
Skills and Qualifications
  • Excellent at monitoring and providing key insights on which sectors within the Chinese economy that provide the best trade and investment opportunities for regional economic development organizations in North America and Europe.
  • Familiar with Chinese government policies and procedures on outbound investment.
  • Academic or professional experience in economic development, PR, trade, marketing or related fields that would help to promote regions within North America or Europe.
  • Proven ability working with government and private sector interests.
  • Experience leading trade or other investment related missions.
  • Identify creative solutions to client and company problems.
  • Proactive, responsible and able to work under pressure.
  • Flexible working hours required to lead regular conference calls and meetings in separate time zones.
  • Able to use all MS software products competently at an advanced level.
  • B.A/B.S. degree from a top-ranked university in any discipline; an honors degree is a distinct advantage.
  • At least 7 years of relevant experience with 5 years of experience in China with trade promotion and outbound investment attraction.
  • Excellent written and oral professional business communication and presentation skills in English and Chinese.
