Co-Founder and Managing Director
John is a founding partner and the Managing Director of Tractus. During more than two decades in Asia, John managed consulting projects in a wide variety of sectors, including the chemicals, automotive, food processing, minerals, manufacturing, and construction industries, among others. In the public sector, he has provided advice and guidance to economic development and investment promotion organizations across the Asia-Pacific region, Europe, the Middle East and North America. John’s pro bono advisory roles also include his position as an advisor to the Cambodia Minister of Commerce and Chair of the Ministry of Commerce sub-committee on Foreign Direct Investment.
Projects overseen by John have spanned work in M&A, new venture establishment, manufacturing start-ups, joint venture deal structuring, service organizations and market entry and expansion projects in sales and distribution. Recent engagements include direct investment advisory on a US$65 million chemicals processing plant, a US$99 million automotive parts investment, a US$150 textile processing plant and growth strategy and implementation work for a NYSE-listed mining company resulting in revenue growth from US$40 million to US$120 million in five years.
Mr. Evans authored several chapters of the Handbook for Setting up Business in China and frequently gives related lectures and workshops around the world. He served as the chairperson and moderator for the First China Industrial Real Estate Conference, and spoken at conferences hosted by the Economist, the United Nations, Asia Business Forum, World Free Zones Convention and others.
