Madhur Aggarwal Joins Tractus Asia’s India Practice as Consulting Manager

Mr. Aggarwal brings his over sixteen years of experience in economic development, cross-border investment, corporate finance, and government relations to Tractus’ India practice.

INDIA – Tractus Asia, a strategy and market entry consulting leader in Asia, today announced that Mr. Madhur Aggarwal has joined their India Practice as a Managing Consultant.

Madhur AggarwalMr. Aggarwal will be based in New Delhi where he will lead projects in corporate finance and economic development as well as supervise the Business Inc.ubatorTM program in one of Tractus’ fastest growing markets. Tractus has been undertaking consulting engagements in India since 1995 and established the India office in 2008.  In recent years, initiatives such as Make in India and liberalizing outbound investment have made India a stronger player in cross-border investments, both inward and outward.

Mr. Aggarwal has over sixteen years of experience, both the public and private sectors, in the areas of economic development, cross-border business and investment, corporate finance, and government relations.  His previous economic development work includes representing organizations from Australia, Canada, the United Kingdom, and India.  His private sector work includes KPMG Australia, Cargill Foods, Merrill Lunch, Bank of America, JP Morgan, and SREI Group—India’s largest non-banking financial institution.  He has also pursued entrepreneurial interests in Australia in the fields of equity financing and business advisory roles.

Mr. Aggarwal’s addition to the Tractus team could not be timelier. What many are calling “India’s Big Bang” is attracting the notice of investment promotion agencies (IPAs) and economic development organizations (EDOs) from all regions of the globe. Narendra Modi’s efforts to liberalize India’s investment environment has opened new sectors to wholly foreign-owned investment making mergers and acquisitions (M&A) a viable option for market entry and turning India into one of the fastest developing source countries of foreign direct investment (FDI).  More and more Indian conglomerates are turning their attention to North America and Europe for expansion and acquisition while at the same time making substantial advancements in Africa and developing Asia to secure and develop natural resources.

Mr. Aggarwal’s experience in North America, the UK, and Australia will help the Tractus India team to better service clients from these regions while also helping Indian clients who want to expand overseas.

“Interest in India is growing rapidly among North American and European IPAs.  Mr. Aggarwal’s experience in economic development and cross-border investment is a valuable addition to our team,” said Mr. Nalin Patel, Tractus Asia’s Country Manager for India.  “While many IPAs have experience in attracting FDI from East Asian countries such as China and Japan, they have little experience working with Indian investors.  Indian business culture is very different from our Eastern neighbors, and it requires deep understanding of both Indian and Western business practices to successfully develop and execute an investment attraction strategy.  Mr. Aggarwal has this understanding.”

“We are excited about the developments in our India practice,” said Mr. John Evans, Managing Director of Tracus Asia.  “When we opened our office in Pondicherry, a satellite community of Chennai, our India business was dominated by inbound investments in business process outsourcing such as customer service call centers.  That has changed.  While we still see a lot of inbound investment, it is increasingly in manufacturing which touches on one of Tractus’ core competencies: industrial site selection.  We are also seeing more M&A activity, such as Tractus’ role in Sutlej Textiles’ recent acquisition of American Silk Mills. We are very pleased to have Mr. Aggarwal join our India practice and avail his insights and expertise to our clients.”

Mr. Aggarwal holds a Masters in Business Administration from Charles Sturt University where he focused in Finance and International Marketing, a Masters of Information Technology from the University of Technology, Sydney where he focused in Strategic Information and Communication Technology, and a Bachelor of from the London School of Economics where he majored in International Economics.
