Our Strategy & Execution team assists companies in developing and executing Greenfield expansion strategies, from market opportunity assessments to location strategy, site selection, real estate negotiations, and managing the start-up of commercial operations. Our Corporate Finance practice offers advisory services and private banking for M&A and joint ventures. We also advise governments and multi-lateral organizations on strategies for attracting foreign direct investment (FDI) and promoting trade through our Economic Development practice.

We are seeking an experienced Agribusiness Consultant with a strong background in FDI attraction and lead generation, market intelligence, and trade promotion in international agriculture commodities to enter the Indian market. The ideal candidate will provide strategic insights, market analysis, and operational guidance to support agricultural trading initiatives of our clients. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to optimize trade operations, develop market strategies, and build partnerships within India and across international markets.

Strategic Advisory

  • Analyse Indian and global agricultural markets, trends, and trade policies to provide actionable insights about the market opportunity for exporters of agriculture products to India.
  • Develop and implement trading strategies to enhance profitability and mitigate risks.
  • Identify new market opportunities and potential trading partners across bulk commodities, retail, and F&B processing.
  • Promote trade and FDI attraction initiatives to enhance the organization’s market presence.

Operational Support

  • Assist in supply chain optimization, ensuring efficient movement of goods across borders.
  • Evaluate trading contracts and negotiate terms to align with organizational goals.
  • Monitor and address trade compliance issues, including tariffs, quotas, and international trade regulations.

Market Research and Analysis

  • Conduct in-depth market research to forecast commodity prices and demand-supply dynamics.
  • Prepare detailed reports on the Indian agriculture market, highlighting opportunities and challenges.
  • Stay updated on emerging market trends, geopolitical events, and regulatory changes impacting trade.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Build and maintain relationships with clients, key stakeholders, including suppliers, buyers, government agencies, and economic development organizations.
  • Foster and facilitate collaborative initiatives and partnerships with relevant stakeholders.
  • Represent the organization in agricultural forums, trade shows, and industry events.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, including logistics, procurement, and finance, to ensure seamless operations.

Risk Management

  • Identify and manage risks related to currency fluctuations, market volatility, and supply chain disruptions.
  • Develop contingency plans to address potential trade barriers or operational challenges.
  • Strong understanding of Indian and international agricultural markets and trade policies.
  • Proficiency in data analysis tools and trade management software.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management skills.

  • Cultural sensitivity and ability to work in diverse, international teams.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Economics, International Business, Supply Chain Management, or related field (master’s degree preferred).
  • Proven track record of managing large-scale trade operations in agricultural commodities (e.g., grains, oilseeds, coffee, cocoa).
  • Proven track record working with food, feed, livestock, and other related industry members, associations, government (Indian and International) bodies, and economic development organizations.
  • Demonstrated experience in attracting foreign direct investment (FDI), promoting trade, and managing FDI and trade missions to India.
  • At least 8 years of business consulting or agriculture trading relevant experience.
  • Fluency in English, and Hindi. Additional languages are a plus.
  • Excellent written and oral professional business communication and presentation skills in English and local language.
  • Willing to travel domestically and internationally.
