Our Corporate Finance practice provides advisory services as well as buy-side and sell-side private banking for clients undertaking M&A and identifying, vetting and negotiating joint ventures.

We advise governments and multi-lateral organizations on how to develop strategies for attracting foreign direct investment (FDI) and promoting trade through our Economic Development practice.

Tractus is seeking a Business Research Analyst to join our dynamic team and contribute to high-impact consulting engagements across Asia. In this role, you will work closely with our Economic Development (ED) practice in attracting Japanese foreign direct investment (FDI) and promoting trade between Japan and client jurisdictions. Under the guidance of Consulting Managers, you will be responsible for researching project coordination, and client facing responsibilities to ensure seamless execution of investment promotion projects.

This role will be based in Tokyo, with occasional domestic travel to attend trade missions and conferences.

  • Partner with team members to cultivate leads and prospects in Japan, scheduling meetings and maintaining up‑to‑date contact records in the CRM.
  • Represent Tractus at trade shows and networking events; capture insights and share take‑aways with the broader team.
  • Coordinate logistics for missions and events, including accommodation, transport, agendas, and venue arrangements.
  • Conduct desk research on industries, markets, and competitors; tabulate data, create graphs/maps, and draft concise analyses for client deliverables.
  • Translate and adapt marketing and presentation materials between English and Japanese.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, economics, international relations, or a related discipline.
  • 2–3 years’ experience in consulting, economic development, or a comparable environment (internships included).
  • Proficient in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; familiarity with CRM platforms preferred.
  • Native‑level Japanese; business‑level English (reading, writing, and verbal communication).
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and interpersonal skills; ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
