Tractus Attends Thrive in New York State – the State of Challenges, Opportunities, and Wealth Event

Thrive in New York State – the State of Challenges, Opportunities, and Wealth, an Empire State Development (ESD) foreign direct investment promotion event, was held on December 2, 2021 at AmCham Shanghai.

Hosted by ESD and co-organizers SelectUSA, AmCham Shanghai, FocalPoint Partners, and IEEBC, the event aimed to promote business and investment between China and the United States and help Chinese companies find development opportunities in the States for market expansion, especially potential investment opportunities in New York State.

15 companies from industries including manufacturing, energy, and technology participated in this event. Tractus served as the representative of ESD, collaborating with Focal Point Partners and the Commerce Department of the Consulate General of the United States in Shanghai to present about investing in the United States, specifically industrial policies and subsidies in New York State, financial activities in the US, and the investment environment and visa-related information.

ESD is the official economic promotion agency of New York State, committed to helping New York State companies expand their business overseas and actively assisting foreign companies to invest and settle in New York State. ESD Vice President for International Affairs Lauren Merkel welcomed the participants to the event and briefly introduced the landscape, culture, and business in New York State.

Tractus China’s Herminio Andres and Sapphire Tang participated as representatives of ESD, introducing the industrial advantages of different cities and industrial zones in New York State. They also described New York State’s policies, benefits, and subsidies for multiple industries including manufacturing, biotechnology and life sciences, clean technology, and renewable energy.

FocalPoint Partners is a US investment bank with business including domestic and overseas mergers, acquisitions, corporate equity, debt financing, debt restructuring, and consulting. FocalPoint China Managing Director Mr. Alvin Wang introduced the methods and procedures for companies to conduct financial activities in the United States, including M&A, IPO, SPAC, and related practical cases to help Chinese companies use overseas financial markets to help their companies grow.

The Commerce Department of the Consulate General of the United States in Shanghai helps Chinese companies interested in investing in the United States conduct feasibility analysis, give recommendations, and provide compliance services. Director Mr. Frederick Helfrich introduced the assistance that the Department can provide to investors, including free research papers, resource reports, and industry information regarding various regions of the United States. He also explained the current business environment and visa process in the US.

Company representatives networked with the event presenters for support in investing in the US and New York State specifically. This event helped companies with technical support and relevant information regarding investing in New York State and supporting their search for potential target customers.
